Forward and reverse geocoding

Sheets Geocoder

Addresses in. Coordinates out.

Sheets Geocoder is a Google Sheets add-on that converts selected street addresses into latitude and longitude coordinates and reverse geocodes coordinate pairs into formatted addresses. Process an entire column without an API key, export, or custom script.

100 geocodes free, one time · No credit card

Why Sheets Geocoder requests Google access

Sheets Geocoder accesses only the current Google Sheet and your Google account email. Your email identifies your account and applies the one-time 100-geocode allowance. Only the addresses or coordinates you select are sent to Google Maps for conversion; Sheets Geocoder does not store those inputs or results.

Common questions

The short version

Do I need a Google Maps API key?

No. Sheets Geocoder uses Google Maps through the add-on, so there is no API project or separate billing account for you to configure.

Does it work in both directions?

Yes. Forward geocoding converts an address into latitude and longitude. Reverse geocoding converts a latitude and longitude pair into a formatted address.

How does the free allowance work?

Each account receives 100 geocodes total. It is a one-time allowance, not a monthly reset, and forward and reverse lookups both count toward it.

What happens to my spreadsheet data?

Only the address or coordinate cells you choose are sent to Google Maps for conversion. Sheets Geocoder does not read the rest of your spreadsheet or store the addresses after processing.

Can I process a whole column?

Yes. Select a range and the add-on works through it in small batches, placing structured results in adjacent columns while keeping your sheet responsive.
